Recent events

The last CEP advisory group meeting was held on Thursday 7th July. The minutes of the meeting are available here.

A meeting of the CEP Management Group was held on Tuesday 15th September at Brightlingsea Council offices. The minutes of this meeting are available here.

SMP Consultation: Members of the CEP were involved in consultations with the Environment Agency over the draft Shoreline Management Plan in Feering on 15th July 2009. Click here to view a report of the consultation.

WFD Consult: The Environment Agency have run stakeholder events and public awareness events throughout our region over recent months to advise on actions proposed to meet the EU Water Framework Directive. See here to view the CEP response to these plans.

 

Low Tide Days The Essex Marine Conservation Society at the University of Essex have been involved with Low Tide Day activities since 2002. Groups of volunteers run activities for all the family at events around the Colne estuary.

Previous events have been held at Cudmore Grove, Batemans Tower in Brightligsea and on the Hard at Colne Yacht Club. Activities include crabbing and touch tanks containing common local marine fauna and flora.

 

Essex Shoresearch Essex Wildlife Trust's Shoresearch program has been attended by groups of staff and students from the University at sites around the Colne estuary to survey intertidal habitats present in Essex.

The Shoresearch program uses skilled volunteers to identify and record marine plants and animals in their natural habitats on the Essex coast. This data is used by the Trust to monitor the state of Essex shore life and identify changes occurring and areas in need of protection.
